Websites engineered to rank, load and convert

A marketing website is an instrument for producing enquiries, not a brochure. Built properly it loads in under two seconds on a mid-range phone, is readable by search engines and screen readers, states its offer clearly enough to convert, and can be updated by the marketing team without a developer. Most business sites fail on at least two of those four.

The gap between a website that looks good in a design review and one that earns money is mostly invisible: how fast it loads on a four-year-old Android over 4G, whether its URLs survive a migration, whether the person who needs to change a price can do it without raising a ticket. We build for those, and the site still looks good.

Is this you?

Signs you need web development

  • Your site takes more than three seconds to load on a phone
  • Every content change requires a developer and a two-week wait
  • The site was built for a business you have since outgrown
  • You are paying for ads that land on a page nobody optimised
  • Your checkout or enquiry form loses people and nobody knows where
  • The site is not usable with a keyboard or a screen reader

What you get

What our web development work covers

  • Marketing websites

Next.js sites with a content model your marketers can actually use and a design system the brand can grow into. Statically generated by default, which is why they load quickly and cost very little to host.

  • Ecommerce

Shopify and headless storefronts, built around the two numbers that decide profitability: how fast product pages load and where the checkout loses people. Both are measurable and both are usually being ignored.

  • Campaign landing pages

Fast, single-purpose pages for paid campaigns, built in days. When the landing page is inside the same team running the ads, the feedback loop between offer and page closes in hours instead of sprints.

  • Performance engineering

Image strategy, font loading, script budgets and caching, measured on real devices and real networks. Every third-party widget — chat, heatmap, tag container — is someone else's JavaScript on your critical path, and each one is a decision, not a default.

  • Accessibility

Keyboard navigation, colour contrast, semantic structure and screen-reader testing built into the process rather than audited at the end. It is a legal expectation in several markets, it overlaps almost entirely with good SEO, and it widens your addressable audience.

  • Migration without losing rankings

URL mapping and redirects are decided in the first fortnight, not the week before launch. Sites lose organic traffic in migration for one reason: nobody mapped the old URLs to the new ones before the old ones disappeared.

How we run it

The order we work in

  1. Discover

Who the site is for, what it has to prove to them, and which existing pages actually earn their keep. Analytics usually shows that a fifth of the pages do all the work, which changes what the new site needs to be.

  2. Architect

Sitemap, URL structure, redirect map and content model — all decided before anything is designed. Getting this wrong is the single most expensive mistake available in a web project, and it is entirely avoidable.

  3. Design

A component-level design system reviewed against real content, real headline lengths and real product names. Designs that only work with placeholder text fall apart on the day you launch.

  4. Build in the open

Built on a staging URL you can watch from week one, with weekly demos. No reveal at the end, because a reveal is just a late opportunity to discover a misunderstanding.

  5. Launch and hand over

Migration, redirects, monitoring for the fortnight afterwards, then training and full handover. You should be able to run the site without us, and hire anyone you like to change it.

Questions

Web Development questions we are asked most

How much does a marketing website cost?

A template-based small business site typically runs $500 to $2,500; a custom marketing site engineered for performance and search generally starts around $6,000 and rises with page count and integrations; ecommerce usually starts around $12,000. The honest distinction between those tiers is not design quality — it is whether anyone engineered the speed, the URL structure and the measurement.

How long does it take to build a website?

A focused marketing site takes six to ten weeks, ecommerce ten to sixteen, and a single campaign landing page one to two. The variable that moves the timeline most is not development — it is how quickly content and approvals come back from your side.

Will we lose our Google rankings when we migrate?

Not if the redirect map is complete and the content is preserved. Every old URL must point to its closest equivalent on the new site, and pages that were ranking must not be quietly shortened. Done properly, migrations are typically neutral to positive because the new site is faster.

Can our team update the site without a developer?

Yes. We set up the content model so routine changes — text, images, prices, new pages, blog posts — need no developer, and we train your team before handover. Anything structural still needs a developer, but that is a quarterly event rather than a weekly one.

What is Core Web Vitals and why does it matter?

Core Web Vitals are three Google measurements of real user experience: how quickly the main content appears, how quickly the page responds to a tap, and how much the layout shifts while loading. They are a ranking signal, but the bigger effect is commercial — slow pages lose visitors before they ever see the offer.

Do you use WordPress?

We build most marketing sites in Next.js and most retail in Shopify. WordPress is a reasonable choice when a large team needs to publish constantly and already knows it, but it carries a plugin maintenance and security burden that most businesses underestimate. We will recommend it where it genuinely fits.
